Project Brief

The project’s objective was to empower a leading retail chain across several locations within the United States to facilitate inventory management, smoothen operations, and enhance customer satisfaction through a customized software solution.

Client Background

The client is a large retail chain with over 100 stores across the country, selling consumer products from significant categories such as electronics, clothing, and goods for the home. Their main objective is to bridge the gap between in-store shopping and online experiences.

Key Challenges:

This had resulted in inaccurate stock counts because there was a persistent mismatch between actual inventory levels and what had been recorded in the system.
Slowness in re-stocking due to lack of real-time inventory visibility and inefficient store-warehouse communication.
The organization lacked a real-time perspective on inventory levels across multiple stores and warehouses.
There was firm reliance on manual inventory tracking, stocktaking, and order fulfillment at an organization, which took up valuable staff hours.
Their current system for inventory management had not been integrated into their point-of-sale and enterprise resource planning systems.
Compliance with the data protection legislation such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and safeguarding the customer data from being accessed by unauthorized parties.

Solution:

1. Discovery and Planning

We started with critically analyzing the client's existing inventory management process and systems. This involved stakeholder interviews, system audits, and requirements gathering in order to clearly define the scope and objectives of the project.

2. Development

A custom-made software solution was designed for the needs of the retail chain. The new system offered centralized inventory management, automated supply chain processes, and seamless integration with previous systems. The solution was deployed on AWS to make sure it is scalable and reliable, with help from an Angular-based user-friendly interface.

3. Implementation

The implementation phase required close engagement with the client's teams to roll out the new strategy. Workshops and training sessions were held to ensure that all stakeholders were familiar with the new procedures and technology.
